Healthy Chilka Curry| Easy Moong dal recipe



Ingredients:- 

  • Moong Dal with skin – 1 Cup
  • Onion - 2
  • Tomato -1
  • Coriander leaves
  • Garlic - 3 pods
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – ¾ Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala - ½ Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Fresh Cream - 1 Table Spoon
  • Oil
  • Salt As needed
  • Water


Preparation:-

  • Add water and cook Moong dal 
  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds
  • Add onion and salt. Saute well
  • Add garlic and green chilli and saute
  • Add turmeric powder and chilli powder and mix well
  • Add tomato and cook well
  • Add cooked moong dal into it and mix
  • Add water into it and cook
  • Add garam masala and coriander leaves and mix well
  • Add fresh cream if needed

Ingredients:- 

  • Egg - 3
  • Onion sliced – 1 Big
  • Tomato – 2
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Grated coconut – ¼ Cup
  • Cashew nut soaked - 10
  • Ginger – 1 Inch
  • Garlic– 3 Pods
  • Poppy seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Fennel Seeds – ¾ Teaspoon
  • Cardamom – 2
  • Cinnamon small piece
  • Cloves - 2
  • Bay leaf as needed
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – ¾ Teaspoon
  • Curry leaves as needed
  • Coriander leaves as needed
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as needed

Preparation:-

  • Take a mixer jar and add sliced tomato, grated coconut, soaked cashew nuts, ginger, garlic, poppy seeds, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds, turmeric, and chilli powder and grind it well
  • Heat oil in a pan, add bay leaf, onion, salt to taste and sauté well
  • Add green chilli, curry leaves and sauté
  • Pour ground masala and mix it well
  • Pour required water and allow it to boil
  • Add boiled egg into the curry and then add curry leaves, coriander leaves 
  • Switch off the stove. Tasty Egg Kuruma is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Jackfruit seeds – 10 to 15
  • Dal – ¼ Cup Soaked
  • Turmeric Powder– 1 Tea spoon
  • Chilli Powder – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Coconut grated- ½ Cup
  • Onion – 1
  • Dry chilli - 1
  • Mustard – ¼ Tsp
  • Curry leaves

Preparation:-

  • Cut Jackfruit seeds into small pieces
  • Take a cooker and add Dal, Jackfruit seeds, green chilli, turmeric powder, chilli powder, Curry leaves and salt to taste and cook well
  • Grind grated coconut
  • Add ground coconut into the cooker and allow it to boil
  • Heat oil in a pan and Splutter mustard seeds. Add onion, dry chilli and curry leaves and sauté well
  • Transfer spluttered mustard seeds into the curry

Ingredients:-

  • Paneer – 100 Gram
  • Fresh green peas – ¼ cup
  • Onion Chopped– 1 Medium
  • Tomato - 2 Medium
  • Ginger – 1 Inch
  • Garlic – 15 Pods 
  • Capsicum – ½ portion
  • Green chili – 1
  • Coriander leaves as required
  • Turmeric Powder– ¼ Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder – ¾ Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Garam masala – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Fresh Cream – 2 Tablespoon
  • Kasuri Methi – ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as needed

Preparation:-

  • Grind tomatoes, ginger and garlic using a grinder and make a thick paste
  • Heat oil in a pan, sauté cumin seeds
  • Add onion and salt to taste and continue sautéing
  • Pour tomato paste and mix it well
  • Add green chilli, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and mix it well
  • Add green peas, capsicum and mix it well 
  • Pour required water and cook well by closing the vessel
  • Add paneer cubes and cook well
  • Add garam masala, kasuri methi, coriander leaves 
  • Pour fresh cream and then switch off the stove
  • Tasty Paneer Matar Masala / Paneer green peas Masala curry is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Raw Jack fruit – Small
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 1
  • Green Chilli - 2
  • Dal – ¼ Cup
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – 2 Teaspoon
  • Sambar Masala
  • Tamarind- A lemon size 
  • Jaggery – A small piece
  • Mustard Seeds
  • Dry red chili – 2
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • For frying coconut
  • Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Shallot – 10
  • Garlic – 10
  • Curry Leaves
  • Fenugreek – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Pepper Corns- ¼ Teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder – 2 ½ Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida – ¼ Teaspoon

Preparation:-

  • Pressure cook dal, raw jackfruit, onion, tomato, green chilli with turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and water
  • Add oil into a pan and add coconut, shallot, curry leaves, pepper and fry
  • Once it start to change the colour add fenugreek and fry
  • Add cumin seeds 
  • Add coriander powder and switch off the stove and add asafoetida
  • Grind the fried coconut
  • Add it into cooked jack fruit
  • Once it start boiling add tamarind water and boil
  • Add sambar powder 
  • Add jaggery
  • Add curry leaves and coriander leaves
  • Splutter mustard and dry red chilli and add it into sambar
  • Tasty Idichakka Sambar is ready to serve

  • Grated coconut – 1 Cup
  • Ginger – ¼ Inch
  • Green Chilli – 1
  • Curd – ¼ Cup
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard Seeds
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:-

  • Take a mixer jar and grind grated Coconut, green chilli, ginger and curd
  • Add required amount of water and mix it well
  • Splutter mustard seeds and add curry leaves
  • Transfer the spluttered mustard seeds into the chutney
  • Tasty ginger chutney / Inchi Chammanthi is ready to serve

TO prepare this special Malabar style Sambar I have used Madras Cucumber or Vellarikka. This Vellarikka Sambar is one of the easiest Sambar you can prepare and it tastes perfect. Try to prepare this easy and quick Vellarikka sambar and let us know your feedback. 

Vellarikka Sambar | Madras Cucumber Sambar | Special Sambar For Dosa and Idly


Ingredients:-

  • Cucumber – Half portion of a cucumber
  • Dal – ½ Cup soaked
  • Tomato – 1
  • Green Chilli -2
  • Shallot -15
  • Garlic -8
  • Turmeric - 1 Tea Spoon
  • Chilli powder – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Coriander powder – 2 Table Spoon
  • Tamarind Water– A small portion
  • Jaggery – Small piece
  • Asafoetida- A small piece
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Dry red chilli
  • Salt
**For frying:-**
  • Grated Coconut – ½ a Cup
  • Shallot – 10
  • Garlic – 10
  • Toor Dal – 1 Teaspoon
  • Urad dal – 1 Teaspoon
  • Pepper corns – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Fenugreek – ½ Tea Spoon

Preparation:-

  • Take a pan and fry turmeric powder and chilli powder
  • Add dal, Cucumber, Tomato, green chilli, shallot, garlic and water
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder and cook for 2 whistle
  • Add coconut oil into a pan and add grated coconut, shallot, garlic, asafoetida, curry leaves and fry
  • Add dal, urad dal, pepper corns, fenugreek and fry till it became brown in colour
  • Add cumin seeds and fry for some more time
  • Grind it into paste
  • Add tamarind pulp into cooked curry and boil it
  • Add coconut paste into it. Add jaggery and curry leaves
  • Sputter mustard seed. Add dry red chilli and curry leaves.
  • Transfer mustard into the sambar
  • Tasty vellarikka Sambar / Cucumber Sambar is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Potato – 3
  • Onion-1
  • Tomato-1
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Shallot – 7
  • Ginger – ½ inch
  • Turmeric powder- ½ Teas Spoon
  • Chilli Powder – ½ Teas Spoon
  • Coriander Powder – 2 Teas Spoon
  • Garam Masala – a Pinch
  • Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Pepper corns- 20
  • Fennel Seeds – A pinch
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry Leaves as needed

Preparation:-

  • Take a cooker and add Potato, onion, green chilli, ginger, salt to taste, turmeric powder, chilli powder and pressure cook by adding required water
  • Add oil in pan and add coconut, curry leaves and roast it
  • Once the coconut became brown in colour add coriander powder and switch off the stove
  • Take a mixer jar and grind coconut adding water
  • Add ground coconut into cooked potato and mix it well. 
  • Add required water and allow to boil
  • Add garam masala and switch off the stove
  • Heat oil in a pan splutter mustard seeds
  • Add shallot curry leaves and sauté well. Transfer it into curry
  • Tasty Potato Masala Curry / Urulakizhangu Masala Curry is ready to serve

  • Potato - 3
  • Onion – 1 medium
  • Ginger – ¼ inch chopped
  • Green Chilli – 2 Sliced
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Gram Flour – 3 Table Spoon
  • Urad dal – 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Mustard Seeds – 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Water
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry Leaves as needed

Preparation:-

  • Boil the potato and smash it
  • Heat oil in a pan add splutter mustard seeds and urad dal 
  • Add onion, ginger, green chilli , curry leaves and salt and saute well 
  • Add turmeric and mix well
  • Take gram flour in a cup and add little water into it and pour the liquid into the pan 
  • Add boiled potato and mix well
  • Add required amount of water and boil
  • Bhaji is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Onion – 1 Medium
  • Tomato – 2 Medium
  • Green chilli – 1
  • Roasted Gram/Pottukadala – ¼ Cup
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ Tsp
  • Chilli Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Mustard Seeds- 1 Teaspoon
  • Curry leaves as needed
  • Water as needed
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt to taste

Pottukadala Chammanthi

Preparation:-

  • Heat a pan and dry roast the Roasted Gram/Pottukadala
  • Heat oil in a pan and add onion, tomato, green Chilli, curry leaves and sauté well 
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder salt to taste and continue sautéing 
  • Grind roasted Gram / pottukadala, tomato onion mix by adding some water
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, add curry leaves and ground chutney into the pan and allow it to boil
  • Tasty Roasted Gram / Puttukadala Tomato Chutney is ready to serve with Dosa or Idly

Chicken Curry can be prepared in different style. In Kerala one of the variety of chicken curry you may find in restaurants are “Mulakitta Chicken Curry”. This is prepared without sautéing Onion or any other ingredients. Also no chicken Masala is used to prepare this bachelors special chicken curry.  I have prepared this special Mulakitta chicken Curry in clay pot and it adds additional taste to your chicken curry. You will find a huge difference in the taste due to this special preparation. Please try from your side and provide the feedback.

Chicken Curry without Chicken Masala | Chicken curry in Clay Pot | Bachelors Chicken Curry

Ingredients:-

  • Chicken – 500 Gram
  • Onion - 1 Medium sliced
  • Tomato – 1 Medium Sliced
  • Green Chilli – 3 Small
  • Garlic – 10 Pods 
  • Ginger – 1 Inch
  • Curry leaves as needed
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – 1 ½ Teaspoon
  • Lemon Juice – ½ portion squeezed
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut Oil – 1 Tablespoon
  • Water – ½ Cup
  • Coriander Powder – 1 Tablespoon
  • Garam masala – 1 Teaspoon

Preparation:-

  • Take a clay pot and add chicken, onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves
  • Add salt to taste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, lemon juice, coconut oil and mix it well
  • Keep it aside for 30 minutes
  • Pour ½ cup water and mix it well
  • Once it starts boiling close the pot and keep the flame at medium
  • Add coriander powder, garam masala, curry leaves and cook well
  • Once it reaches the required gravy switch off the stove and pour a little raw coconut oil and close the pot
  • Tasty mulakitta chicken curry / Bachelors Chicken Curry is ready to serve.

  • Green Peas (Soaked) – ½ Cup
  • Onion – 1 medium
  • Potato – 1 Big
  • Garlic – 3 Pods
  • Ginger – ¼ Inch
  • Green Chilli – 1
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder – 2 ½ Tablespoon
  • Coconut grated – ½ Cup
  • Garam masala – ¼ teaspoon
  • Pepper Powder – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Small Onion/ Shallot – 2 pods
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry Leaves as needed

 Green Peas Curry

Preparation:-
  • Take a cooker and cook soaked green peas for 3 whistle
  • Add potato, onion, green chilli, garlic, ginger, salt to taste, ¼ Teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 2 ½ tablespoon coriander powder and pressure cook the green peas by adding required water
  • Take a mixer jar and grind coconut
  • Smash few potatoes and then add ground coconut along with required water into cooked green peas and mix it well
  • Add ¼ teaspoon garam masala and ¼ teaspoon pepper powder and then switch off the stove
  • Heat oil in a pan add splutter mustard seeds, add chopped small onion/shallot, curry leaves into it and then transfer it into curry
  • Tasty Green Peas Curry is ready to serve

  • Add required water, curry leaves, garam masala into the pan and allow it to boil
  • Break two eggs and add it on top of the curry
