Sweet Thukada is prepared using Maida and Rava. It is very easy to prepare and preserve it for couple of days. Sweet Thukada or this evening snack is coated with sugar and because of that kids enjoy eating this. Sweet Thukada is very easy to prepare. It can be used as Naalumani palaharam/evening snack.

Sweet Thukada | Evening Snack | Special Diwali Sweet

Ingredients:-

  • Maida- ½ Cup
  • Rava – 1 Tablespoon
  • Sugar -½ Cup
  • Powdered Sugar (Add 1 cardamom) – 1 Tablespoon
  • Baking Soda – A pinch
  • Salt – A Pinch
  • Ghee – 1 Teaspoon
  • Warm Milk – ¼ Cup
  • Oil

Preparation:-

  • Mix maida, rava, baking soda salt and powdered sugar
  • Add milk and make dough and rest it for half an hour
  • Make balls and roll out into thin chapathi shape
  • Cut it into desired shape
  • Fry both sides
  • Make a sugar syrup and dip the fried items into it
  • Tasty Thukada / Diwali Sweet is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • All-purpose Flour/Maida – 1 Cup
  • Baking Soda – 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Baking Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Orange juice – 5 Tablespoon
  • Cashew- 2 Tablespoon
  • Raisins – 2 Tablespoon
  • Dates – 2 Tablespoon
  • Tutti fruity- 3 Tablespoon
  • Sugar Powder – ½ Cup +¼ Cup
  • Cloves – 2
  • Cardamom – 2
  • Cinnamon- a small portion
  • Nutmeg – A small portion
  • Melted unsalted butter – ½ Cup
  • Egg – 2 in room temperature
  • Vanilla essence – 1 teaspoon 
  • Honey – 1 Tablespoon

Plum Cake Undakkunna Vidham

Preparation:- 

  • Soak cloves cashew, raisins, tutti frutti and dates in orange juice
  • Take a bowl and sieve all-purpose flour, add teaspoon baking powder, and teaspoon baking soda
  • Caramelize the sugar
  • Grind sugar with cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom
  • Blend powdered sugar, eggs, vanilla essence, honey and melted sugar
  • Add soaked dry fruits and mix well
  • Transfer All-purpose flour mixture little by little and mix it well 
  • Take a baking tin and apply butter on top of it. Transfer the cake mixture and tap it couple of times
  • Pre-heat the cooker for 10 min in medium flame
  • Keep the cake tin inside the cooker and bake for 1 hour
  • Tasty plum cake is ready to serve

  • Mustard seeds – 1 ¼ Teaspoon
  • Coconut Oil
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt

Preparation:- 

  • Add Salt, turmeric, chilli powder into river fish and mix
  • Add ginger, green chilli and tomato and mix it again
  • Grind Coconut with ¾ portion of mustard seeds
  • Add tamarind pulp, curry leaves and then switch on the stove
  • Once it start boil add coconut paste and bring into boil
  • Splutter mustard seeds and add it into the curry
  • Tasty puzha meen Curry / River fish curry is ready to serve

  • Boiled egg – 3
  • Boiled Potato – 2
  • Gram flour or besan - ¾ Cup
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – ¾ Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt 
  • Oil as needed

Preparation:-

  • Mash cooked potato
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, Curry leaves, garam masala and mix it well
  • Take Gram flour or besan into a vessel and add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin seeds into it. 
  • Add water little by little and mix it well
  • Cover egg with potato mix
  • Dip the egg in Gram flour or besan mix and fry both sides
  • Tasty egg bonda is ready to serve

  • Broken Wheat – ½ Cup
  • Jaggery – 200 to 225 Gram
  • Milk – 500 ML
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Cashew nuts as required

Preparation:-

  • Cook broken wheat in a pressure cooker
  • Add melted Jaggery and boil 
  • Add milk and boil
  • Add cardamom powder and boil it

  • Wheat flour- 1 Cup
  • Sugar – ¼ Cup
  • Water – ¼ Cup
  • Ghee- 2 Tablespoon
  • Salt – A Pich
  • Oil as needed

Preparation:-

  • In a pan add sugar and water and boil till sugar gets dissolved
  • Add salt into wheat flour
  • Add sugar syrup and knead it well
  • Add ghee and knead again
  • Flatten the dough using a rolling pin
  • Cut the flattened dough into desired shape
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry each piece both sides
  • Tasty Shakarpali or wheat flour snack is ready to serve

Muringayila has calcium, protein, iron, and amino acids, which help your body heal and build muscle. Here I am showing a stir Fry prepared using drumstick leaves. It may he slight bitter taste but considering the health benefits of this leaves you must include this thoran / Stir fry in your diet very frequently.  

Murigayila Thoran | Drumstick Leaves Stir Fry | Healthy Thoran Recipe

Ingredients:-

  • Drum stick leaves- 2 Cups
  • Grated Coconut- 2 Table Spoon
  • Green Chilli- 1
  • Garlic -4
  • Turmeric -1/4 Tsp
  • Chilli Powder – 1/4 Tsp
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required


Preparation:-

  • Cut drum stick leaves into small pieces
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coconut, green chilli and garlic and mix well
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds
  • Add drumstick leaves into it and mix and cover
  • Close the vessel and cook well
  • Once it cook sauté for some time and switch off the stove

Ingredients:-

  • Cucumber – Half portion of a cucumber
  • Dal – ½ Cup soaked
  • Tomato – 1
  • Green Chilli -2
  • Shallot -15
  • Garlic -8
  • Turmeric - 1 Tea Spoon
  • Chilli powder – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Coriander powder – 2 Table Spoon
  • Tamarind Water– A small portion
  • Jaggery – Small piece
  • Asafoetida- A small piece
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Dry red chilli
  • Salt
**For frying:-**
  • Grated Coconut – ½ a Cup
  • Shallot – 10
  • Garlic – 10
  • Toor Dal – 1 Teaspoon
  • Urad dal – 1 Teaspoon
  • Pepper corns – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Fenugreek – ½ Tea Spoon

Preparation:-

  • Take a pan and fry turmeric powder and chilli powder
  • Add dal, Cucumber, Tomato, green chilli, shallot, garlic and water
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder and cook for 2 whistle
  • Add coconut oil into a pan and add grated coconut, shallot, garlic, asafoetida, curry leaves and fry
  • Add dal, urad dal, pepper corns, fenugreek and fry till it became brown in colour
  • Add cumin seeds and fry for some more time
  • Grind it into paste
  • Add tamarind pulp into cooked curry and boil it
  • Add coconut paste into it. Add jaggery and curry leaves
  • Sputter mustard seed. Add dry red chilli and curry leaves.
  • Transfer mustard into the sambar
  • Tasty vellarikka Sambar / Cucumber Sambar is ready to serve

  • Potato – 3
  • Onion-1
  • Tomato-1
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Shallot – 7
  • Ginger – ½ inch
  • Turmeric powder- ½ Teas Spoon
  • Chilli Powder – ½ Teas Spoon
  • Coriander Powder – 2 Teas Spoon
  • Garam Masala – a Pinch
  • Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Pepper corns- 20
  • Fennel Seeds – A pinch
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry Leaves as needed

Preparation:-

  • Take a cooker and add Potato, onion, green chilli, ginger, salt to taste, turmeric powder, chilli powder and pressure cook by adding required water
  • Add oil in pan and add coconut, curry leaves and roast it
  • Once the coconut became brown in colour add coriander powder and switch off the stove
  • Take a mixer jar and grind coconut adding water
  • Add ground coconut into cooked potato and mix it well. 
  • Add required water and allow to boil
  • Add garam masala and switch off the stove
  • Heat oil in a pan splutter mustard seeds
  • Add shallot curry leaves and sauté well. Transfer it into curry
  • Tasty Potato Masala Curry / Urulakizhangu Masala Curry is ready to serve

  • Salt
  • Mustard Seeds – Tea Spoon
  • Curry Leaves

Preparation:-

  • Add dal and drumstick leaves into pressure cooker
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and green chilli into it
  • Add required amount of water and cook for 3 whistle
  • Grind coconut 
  • Once the dal and leaves cooked smash the dal
  • Add ground coconut into it .Add required amount of water and boil
  • Splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and put it into the curry
  • Tasty Muringayila Parippu Curry / Drumstick leaves Dal curry is ready to serve
