Banana Snacks | Evening Snack | Nendrapazham Snack | Aval NalumaniPalaharam


Ingredients:- 

  • Banana - 1
  • Aval – ½ Cup
  • Grated Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Jaggery – ¼ Cup
  • Wheat flour – 1 Cup
  • Cardamom Powder – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Ghee – 2 Table Spoon
  • Salt

Preparation:-

  • Add ghee in a pan and heat
  • Add banana and stir
  • Add aval and grated coconut into it and mix well
  • Add jaggery and cardamom powder and fry the banana
  • Switch off the stove
  • Prepare a batter using wheat flour and salt
  • Make a balls from banana
  • Coat with batter
  • Fry it

 Ingredients:- 

  • Tapioca – 750 gm
  • Egg - 6
  • Onion – 3
  • Ginger – ½ inch
  • Garlic – 5 Pods
  • Green Chilli - 2
  • Curry leaves
  • Turmeric – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Pepper Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala – ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt
  • Coconut Oil


Preparation:-
  • Cook Tapioca by adding salt, Turmeric and water
  • Heat a pan add Coconut Oil
  • Add ginger, garlic, green chilli, curry leaves and sauté well
  • Add onion, salt and sauté well
  • Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder and sauté again
  • Add eggs and mix well
  • Add pepper powder and garam masala and mix
  • Add Tapioca and mix

Vellayappam/Palappam is one of the favorite breakfast in Kerala. If you visit any restaurants in Kerala you will find Vellayappam/appam as one of the breakfast item. Every home in a week on rotation vellayappam/appam is prepared as one day’s breakfast. This soft vellayappam/appam can be eaten with varieties of curries like Kadala, Cherupayar, Stew etc but famous curry to be used along with vellayappam is egg curry / mutta curry. Vellayappam can be prepared using rice, ragi, wheat etc. Here I am showing how to prepare vellayappam/palappam using Jowar Flour. Please watch the video and let us know your feedback as comment.

Healthy Jowar Appam | Jowar Vellayappam | Easy and healthy breakfast | Jowar Flour Palappam


Ingredients:-

  • Jowar Flour – 2 Cup
  • Rice flour – 1 Cup
  • Aval – ½ Cup
  • Yeast - 1/ 2 Teaspoon
  • Salt As needed
  • Water


Preparation:-

  • Take a mixer jar and add Jowar, rice flour, yeast, sugar, water and grind it well
  • Transfer the ground batter into a vessel and add salt on top of it. Keep it aside for 6 to 8 hours
  • After 8 hours take out the batter and stir it well
  • Heat a pan suitable to make appam (Appam Chatti) and pour a spoon full batter and spread it over. Close the vessel using lid for 2 to 3 min.
  • After 2 to 3 min take out the appam
  • Tasty Jowar appam / Vellayappam is ready to serve

Ingredients:- 

  • Egg - 3
  • Onion sliced – 1 Big
  • Tomato – 2
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Grated coconut – ¼ Cup
  • Cashew nut soaked - 10
  • Ginger – 1 Inch
  • Garlic– 3 Pods
  • Poppy seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Fennel Seeds – ¾ Teaspoon
  • Cardamom – 2
  • Cinnamon small piece
  • Cloves - 2
  • Bay leaf as needed
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – ¾ Teaspoon
  • Curry leaves as needed
  • Coriander leaves as needed
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as needed

Preparation:-

  • Take a mixer jar and add sliced tomato, grated coconut, soaked cashew nuts, ginger, garlic, poppy seeds, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seeds, turmeric, and chilli powder and grind it well
  • Heat oil in a pan, add bay leaf, onion, salt to taste and sauté well
  • Add green chilli, curry leaves and sauté
  • Pour ground masala and mix it well
  • Pour required water and allow it to boil
  • Add boiled egg into the curry and then add curry leaves, coriander leaves 
  • Switch off the stove. Tasty Egg Kuruma is ready to serve

Mixed small fishes are called palavaka or charu. We can prepare tasty fish curry using this palavaka or charu fish. Preparation of Malabar special Charu curry is slightly different from other fish. Here I am showing you how to cook mixed small fish or Palavaka fish or Charu. After watching the video please share the feedback.

Ingredients:-

  • Fish - 350 gm
  • Mango – ½ portion 
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Ginger – ½ Inch
  • Shallot – 4
  • Tomato - 1
  • Turmeric Powder– 3/4 Tea spoon
  • Chilli Powder – 11/2 Tea Spoon
  • Salt
  • Coconut grated- 1/2Cup
  • Curry leaves
  • Seasoning:-
  • Mustard – ¼ Tsp
  • Curry leaves


Preparation:-

  • Marinate the fish with salt, turmeric and chilli powder
  • Grind coconut 
  • Take a clay pot and add the fish which require more cooking time. Add shallot, green chilli, ginger, mango and tomato. Add ground coconut paste and water. Cook it
  • Once the fish is half cooked add remaining fish. If required add some water also
  • Add Curry leaves and cook
  • Heat oil. Splutter mustard seeds .Add onion and saute. Add curry leaves. Add it into the curry

  • Tamarind water- One lemon size in ¼ water
  • Curry leaves
  • Seasoning:-

Preparation:-

  • Add green chilli, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt into Jackfruit and cook
  • Grind coconut 
  • Add ground coconut paste into cooked Jackfruit and boil. Add curry leaves
  • Add tamarind pulp and boil
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. 
  • Add onion and sauté, add curry leaves. 
  • Add spluttered mustard seeds into the curry
  • Tasty idichakka Pulincurry is ready to serve

Jowar Pathiri or Jowar flour nice pathiri is one of the easy breakfast you can prepare at home. There is no special ingredients required to prepare Jowar pathiri. If you are bored of eating same breakfast then try this Malabar special nice pathiri recipe you will love it. You may use stew or any other breakfast curry for this Sorghum Pathiri. Try to make this super nice pathiri / Jowar flour pathiri and let us know your feedback. 

Jowar Pathiri| Jowar Flour Pathiri | Malabar Special Soft Pathiri using Sorghum Flour



Ingredients:-

  • Jowar Flour (Sorghum) – 1 Cup
  • Water – 1 Cup
  • Oil – 1 Teaspoon
  • Sesame Seeds Black – ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:-

  • Boil water in a pan and add salt into it
  • Pour little oil while boiling the water
  • Keep the flame low and add Jowar flour into the boiled water and mix it well
  • Switch off the stove and keep it aside to cool down
  • Knead the dough well
  • Add sesame seeds and mix it well
  • Apply little more oil and kneed it again
  • Make medium size balls to make the Pathiri
  • Take one of the balls and place it in a presser. Press the ball to make it flat 
  • If you don’t have a presser, take one of the balls and place it on a flat surface dusted with wheat flour.  Using a rolling pin, roll the ball to a circular shape. Cut it using a sharp rounded vessel to get the exact circle shape
  • Heat a dosa tawa and keep one Pathiri at a time and cook both sides
  • Tasty Jowar flour Pathiri is ready to serve.

  • Jackfruit seeds – 10 to 15
  • Dal – ¼ Cup Soaked
  • Turmeric Powder– 1 Tea spoon
  • Chilli Powder – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Coconut grated- ½ Cup
  • Onion – 1
  • Dry chilli - 1
  • Mustard – ¼ Tsp
  • Curry leaves

Preparation:-

  • Cut Jackfruit seeds into small pieces
  • Take a cooker and add Dal, Jackfruit seeds, green chilli, turmeric powder, chilli powder, Curry leaves and salt to taste and cook well
  • Grind grated coconut
  • Add ground coconut into the cooker and allow it to boil
  • Heat oil in a pan and Splutter mustard seeds. Add onion, dry chilli and curry leaves and sauté well
  • Transfer spluttered mustard seeds into the curry

Preparation:-

  • Cut Jackfruit and Jackfruit seeds into small pieces

  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt to taste into Jackfruit and Jackfruit seeds and cook well
  • Add grated coconut into cooked jackfruit and mix well
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds
  • Add onion and garlic and sauté
  • Add curry leaves and then transfer that it into the puzhukku
  • Tasty Chakka Puzhukku is ready to serve

  • Close the pan and cook well, open in between and stir well to avoid burning
  • Add egg into the pan and mix it well
  • Add crushed coconut and mix it again
  • Switch off the stove
  • Tasty Broccoli egg stir fry is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Cabbage – 2 Cup
  • Onion – ½ portion of a medium size
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – 1 ½ Teaspoon
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Urad dal - 1 Teaspoon
  • Besan Flour / Gram flour – 1 ½ Tablespoon 
  • Grated Coconut – ¼ Cup
  • Curry leaves as required
  • Oil as required
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:-

  • Cut cabbage into lengthy pieces
  • Cut onion into small pieces
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, add cumin seeds and urad dal
  • Add onion, curry leaves, salt to taste and saute well 
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and continue sautéing 
  • Pour ¼ cup water into gram flour and mix it well
  • Pour gram flour mix into the pan and mix it well
  • Transfer cabbage into the pan and mix it well
  • Close the pan and cook well, open in between and stir well to avoid burning
  • Finally add grated coconut and switch off the stove
  • Tasty cabbage stir fry is ready to serve

  • Salt to taste

Ingredients:- 

  • Black Pomfret - 500 gm
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – 2 Teaspoon
  • Tomato – 1 Medium
  • Ginger sliced – 1 Inch
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Garlic Crushed – 15 pods
  • Curry leaves as needed
  • Pot Tamarind (Soaked in water) - 2 
  • Grated Coconut – 1 Cup
  • Shallot – 1 Big
  • Dried red chilli soaked in hot water- 5
  • Whole Coriander soaked in hot water – 1 ½ Teaspoon
  • Salto to taste

Seasoning

  • Mustard seeds as needed
  • Fenugreek – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Shallot – 2 
  • Curry leaves as needed
  • Oil as needed

Preparation:-

  • Take a clay pot and pour 1 cup water and add salt to taste
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, sliced tomato, green chilli, ginger, garlic, curry leaves and mix it well
  • Pour pot tamarind extract along with the tamarind and allow it to boil
  • Take a mixer jar and grind grated coconut, soaked dried red chilli and whole coriander
  • Transfer black pomfret into the clay pot and cook for a min by closing the clay pot
  • Pour ground coconut mixture along with required water and cook well by closing the clay pot for 5 min
  • Heat oil in a pan splutter mustard seeds, add fenugreek, shallot and coriander leaves. 
  • Transfer spluttered mustards into the curry
  • Tasty Black Pomfret curry is ready to serve

  • Jackfruit – 1 ½ to 2 Cup
  • Jackfruit seeds – 10
  • Turmeric Powder– ½ Tea spoon
  • Chilli Powder – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Salt
  • Coconut grated- ½ Cup
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Tea spoon
  • Turmeric Powder – A pinch
  • Seasoning:-
  • Onion – 1
  • Garlic – 2 or 3
  • Mustard – ¼ Tsp
  • Dry chilli – 2
  • Curry leaves

Preparation:-

  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt to taste, Jackfruit, Jackfruit seeds and cook well
  • Grind coconut with cumin seeds and turmeric powder
  • Add ground coconut paste into cooked Jackfruit and boil
  • Heat oil in a pan Splutter mustard seeds. Add onion, garlic into the pan and saute. Add red chilli and curry leaves. Transfer that it into the curry
  • Tasty Chakka Curry / Jackfruit Curry is ready to serve

Preparation:-

  • Grind coconut, green chilli, ginger, tamarind, jaggery, dry red chilli, cumin seeds, curry leaves, salt and water
  • Mix ground paste with curd
  • Heat oil in a pan and  Splutter mustard seeds add red chilli and curry leaves
  • Add it into the butter milk mixture
  • Tasty Moru Kachiyathu / Thenga Moru Curry is ready to serve

  • Chilli Powder – 2 Teaspoon
  • Sambar Masala
  • Tamarind- A lemon size 
  • Jaggery – A small piece
  • Mustard Seeds
  • Dry red chili – 2
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • For frying coconut
  • Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Shallot – 10
  • Garlic – 10
  • Curry Leaves
  • Fenugreek – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Pepper Corns- ¼ Teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder – 2 ½ Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida – ¼ Teaspoon

Preparation:-

  • Pressure cook dal, raw jackfruit, onion, tomato, green chilli with turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and water
  • Add oil into a pan and add coconut, shallot, curry leaves, pepper and fry
  • Once it start to change the colour add fenugreek and fry
  • Add cumin seeds 
  • Add coriander powder and switch off the stove and add asafoetida
  • Grind the fried coconut
  • Add it into cooked jack fruit
  • Once it start boiling add tamarind water and boil
  • Add sambar powder 
  • Add jaggery
  • Add curry leaves and coriander leaves
  • Splutter mustard and dry red chilli and add it into sambar
  • Tasty Idichakka Sambar is ready to serve

How to prepare Kerala Special Banana Elayada | Ethapazham Elayada | Nendrapazham Ilayada 

Kerala Special Banana Elayada | Ethapazham Elayada | Nendrapazham Ilayada 

Ingredients:-

  • Banana – 4
  • Wheat flour – 1 Cup
  • Grated Coconut – 3/4 Cup
  • Jaggery – ½ Cup
  • Cardamom - 6
  • Salt

Preparation:-

  • Steam and cook banana
  • Grind the cooked banana once it is cooled
  • Mix grated coconut and jaggery
  • Add wheat flour, mashed banana, salt, cardamom and make a dough
  • Take banana leaf spread the dough 
  • Place the filling on one side and fold the other half on top of it
  • Place it in a steamer or Idli Cooker
  • Steam for about 10 to 15 min
  • Tasty Nendrapazham / Ethapazham gothambu Elayada is ready to serve
