Broken wheat Upma is very very delicious. Nurukku Gothambu is rich in fiber and the upma prepared using broken what is very healthy and tasty. You may eat this delicious Soochi Gothambu Upma along with Banana and Sugar or with Kadala Curry.

Broken Wheat Upma | Soochi Gothambu Uppumav | Nurukku Gothambu Uppumav


Ingredients:-

  • Broken Wheat – 1 ½ Cup
  • Onion – ½ 
  • Carrot – ½
  • Green Chilli – 1
  • Ginger – ½ inch
  • Curry Leaves as required 
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 Teaspoon
  • Urad Dal – 1 Table spoon
  • Ghee – 1 Table spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required

Preparation:- 

  • Take a pan, add oil and heat
  • Splutter mustard seeds
  • Add urad dal and sauté
  • Add onion, carrot, ginger, green chilli and curry leaves and sauté well
  • Add water and Salt to taste into it and boil
  • Add broken wheat and mix well
  • Close the lid and cook for 4 to 5 min in low flame
  • Open the lid and add ghee into it and mix it
  • Close with a lid and switch off the flame
  • Tasty Broken wheat Upma/ Nurukku Gothambu Uppumav is ready to serve

Preparing puzhukku using Vazhakaambu is very easy and here I am showing how to prepare an easy vazha Kaambu cherupayar Puzhukku / Banana Stem green gram puzhukku in typical kerala style.

Kerala Special Vazha Kaambu cherupayar Puzhukku /Banana Stem Green Gram Puzhukku?

Ingredients:-

  • Banana Stem sliced - 1 cup
  • Green gram (Soaked) – ¼ Cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Curry leaves as required
  • Grated coconut – ½ Cup
  • Raw coconut oil

Preparation:-

  • Clean and cut Banana stem into small pieces
  • Take a cooker and Cook green gram by adding required salt and water
  • Add banana stem, green chilli, salt to taste, and turmeric powder, curry leaves required water and cook again
  • Smash banana stem and then add grated coconut and mix it well
  • Switch off the stove and pour a little raw coconut oil
  • Tasty banana stem cherupayar puzhukku is ready to serve.
  • Serve it hot with rice, Chappathi!

Eenth or Cycads is used to prepare nutritious dishes. It is a rich source of proteins, carbohydrates and helps to control blood pressure. Eenthu Virakiyathu looks like a Payasam with less sweetness. Eenth Virakiyathu or  Cycads pudding one of the healthy dish you must try at home when you get dried Eenthu or Cycads.

Eenthu Virakiyathu |  Cycads pudding | Special Eenthu Payasam


Ingredients:-

  • Eenthu (Cycads) – 1 ½ cup Soaked in water
  • Jaggery – 250-300 gram
  • Coconut milk – 1 ½ Cup
  • Cardamom – 3 
  • Ghee – 1 Tsp
  • Chana dal (Cooked) – ¼ Cup 
  • Salt a pinch

Preparation:-

  • Grind eenthu/ Cycads by adding water
  • Melt jaggery
  • Take a vessel and add ground eenthu, melted jaggery, coconut milk and cardamom
  • Switch on the stove and stir well
  • Add ghee into it and mix it well
  • Add salt as required
  • Once it start boiling add cooked chana and mix well 
  • Stir continuously until it reaches the required consistency 
  • Tasty Eenthu Virakiyathu / Cycads pudding is ready to serve

Potato Besan Fingers | Iftar Nombuthura Snack | Naalumani Palaharam | Potato Snack

Ingredients:-

  • Potato – 2 Smashed
  • Onion -1 Medium
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – 2 Teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves as required
  • Gram flour – 1 Cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as needed

Preparation:-

  • Take a bowl and add smashed potato, onion, salt to taste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander leaves, and cumin seeds and mix it well
  • Add gram flour little by little and mix it again
  • Shape the mixture to make potato finger
  • Heat oil in a pan and deep fry both sides 
  • Tasty potato finger is ready to serve.

Nurukkari Pradhaman | Broken Rice Pradhaman | Sadya Special Nurukku Ari Pradhaman

Ingredients:-

  • Broken Rice / Nurukkuari – 1 Cup
  • Coconut milk Third Extract – 2 to 2 ½ Cup
  • Coconut milk Second Extract – 1 ½ Cup
  • Coconut milk First Extract – ½ Cup
  • Jaggery Syrup – 500 Gram Melted
  • Cardamom crushed– 10 
  • Cut Coconut- 2 ½ Table spoon
  • Cashew nuts and raisins as required
  • Salt a pinch
  • Ghee as required

Preparation:-

  • Heat ghee in a pan or Uruli and fry cut coconut pieces
  • Melt jaggery
  • In the same pan or Uruli and fry broken rice 
  • Pour third extract of coconut milk and cook broken rice
  • Pour melted jaggery syrup and mix it well and stir continuously until it reaches the required consistency
  • Add two tablespoon ghee and mix it well
  • Pour second coconut milk extract and boil
  • Add crushed cardamom and a pinch of salt and mix it well
  • Switch off the stove once it reaches the required consistency and then pour first coconut milk extract and fried coconut pieces 
  • Tasty Nurukkari Pradhaman / Broken Wheat Pradhaman is ready to serve

  • Tomato – 1 Medium
  • Onion – 1 Medium
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – ¾ Tablespoon
  • Grated Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Water as required 
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Shallot/Small Onion - 3
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry Leaves as needed

Preparation:-

  • Take a cooker and cook jackfruit seeds
  • Add drumstick, carrot, tomato, onion, green chilli, curry leaves, salt to taste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, required water and cook well
  • Take a mixer grinder, add grated coconut and grind it well
  • Transfer the ground coconut into the curry, add required water for the curry and mix it well
  • Heat oil in a pan add splutter mustard seeds, add shallot into it and then transfer it into the curry
  • Tasty Chkkakkuru muringakkaya / Jackfruit seeds drumstick curry is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Mackerel (Ayala) – 2
  • Onion – 1 Big
  • Tomato – 1 Medium Size
  • Garlic – 10 Pods Crushed
  • Ginger – 1 Tablespoon
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Curry Leaves as needed
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Fenugreek – ¼ teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – ¾ Tablespoon
  • Kashmiri chilli powder – ½ Tablespoon
  • Coriander Powder - 3 Tablespoon 
  • Pot Tamarind (Kudam Puli) - 
  • Water as required 
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:-

  • Heat coconut oil in a clay pot and splutter mustard seeds. Add fenugreek, sliced onion, salt to taste and sauté well
  • Add green chilli, garlic and ginger and continue sautéing 
  • Add Turmeric Powder, Chilli Powder, Kashmiri Chilli Powder, Coriander Powder, Tomato, Curry Leaves and little water into the clay pot and sauté well 
  • Pour required water and allow it to boil
  • Transfer cleaned mackerel (Ayala) and pot tamarind into the clay pot and cook well
  • Tasty Malliyitta (Mackerel) Ayala curry is ready to serve

  • Prawns – 500 Gram
  • Onion – 1 Big sliced
  • Tomato – 1 Big Size
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Ginger – 1 Inch 
  • Garlic – 10 Pods 
  • Coriander Leaves as required
  • Curry leaves as required
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder – 1 Tablespoon
  • Kashmiri Chilli Powder – 1 ½ Teaspoon
  • Garam masala – ½ Teaspoon
  • Vinegar – 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:-

  • Heat oil in a pan and sauté well by adding a little salt
  • Add tomato, ginger, garlic, green chilli, and coriander leaves paste into the pan and mix it well
  • Add turmeric powder, chili powder, Kashmiri chilli powder, coriander powder water as required water and sauté well
  • Transfer cleaned Prawns into the pan and cook well
  • Pour required water to cook the prawns and close the pan with a lid
  • Add garam masala, curry leaves, vinegar and mix it well
  • Tasty Chemmeen Chukka is ready to serve

Red Rice (Kuthari) dosa is easy to make and no fermentation is required. You can prepare the dosa plain or you may add grated coconut. Only few ingredients are required for making Kuthari dosa. This dosa tastes totally different from other varieties of Dosa. Try to make this Dosa as shown in the video and let me know the feedback.

Kuthari Dosa

Ingredients:-

  • Red rice (Matta Rice) Soaked – 2 Cup
  • Beaten Rice (Aval) – 1 Cup
  • Grated Coconut - 
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Red Rice Dosa

Preparation:-

  • Take a mixer jar and add Rice, Aval, required water and grind it well
  • Transfer the ground batter into a vessel and keep it for 10 min
  • Add salt and grated coconut into it and mix well
  • Heat a pan and pour a spoon full batter and spread it over. Close the pan using a lid for 2 to 3 min and flip the dosa 
  • Tasty Dosa is ready to serve

  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ Tsp
  • Chilli Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Mustard Seeds- 1 Teaspoon

  • Water as needed
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt to taste

Pottukadala Chammanthi

Preparation:-

  • Heat a pan and dry roast the Roasted Gram/Pottukadala
  • Heat oil in a pan and add onion, tomato, green Chilli, curry leaves and sauté well 
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder salt to taste and continue sautéing 
  • Grind roasted Gram / pottukadala, tomato onion mix by adding some water
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, add curry leaves and ground chutney into the pan and allow it to boil
  • Tasty Roasted Gram / Puttukadala Tomato Chutney is ready to serve with Dosa or Idly

Ingredients:-

  • Semolina/Rava – ½ Cup
  • All-Purpose flour /maida– 1 Cup
  • Grated Jaggery – ½ Cup
  • Cardamom– 4 Pods Crushed
  • Salt a pinch
  • Water as needed
  • Oil as needed to fry

Preparation:-

  • Heat 1 cup water in a pan and melt jaggery
  • Take a bowl and add App-purpose flour/Maida, Rava, a pinch of salt, cardamom Powder and mix it well
  • Pour Jaggery syrup into the bowl and mix it well
  • Keep it aside for 30 min
  • After 30 min open the vessel and mix it well
  • Heat oil in a pan and pour a spoon full of batter and deep fry both sides 
  • Tasty Rava appam / Rava Naalumani Palaharam is ready to serve.

This is prepared without sautéing Onion or any other ingredients. Also no chicken Masala is used to prepare this bachelors special chicken curry.  I have prepared this special Mulakitta chicken Curry in clay pot and it adds additional taste to your chicken curry. You will find a huge difference in the taste due to this special preparation. Please try from your side and provide the feedback.

Chicken Curry without Chicken Masala | Chicken curry in Clay Pot | Bachelors Chicken Curry

Ingredients:-

  • Chicken – 500 Gram
  • Onion - 1 Medium sliced
  • Tomato – 1 Medium Sliced
  • Green Chilli – 3 Small
  • Garlic – 10 Pods 
  • Ginger – 1 Inch
  • Curry leaves as needed
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – 1 ½ Teaspoon
  • Lemon Juice – ½ portion squeezed
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut Oil – 1 Tablespoon
  • Water – ½ Cup
  • Coriander Powder – 1 Tablespoon
  • Garam masala – 1 Teaspoon

Preparation:-

  • Take a clay pot and add chicken, onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves
  • Add salt to taste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, lemon juice, coconut oil and mix it well
  • Keep it aside for 30 minutes
  • Pour ½ cup water and mix it well
  • Once it starts boiling close the pot and keep the flame at medium
  • Add coriander powder, garam masala, curry leaves and cook well
  • Once it reaches the required gravy switch off the stove and pour a little raw coconut oil and close the pot
  • Tasty mulakitta chicken curry / Bachelors Chicken Curry is ready to serve.

Chemeen Parippu Curry

Ingredients:-

  • Prawns – 250 Gram
  • Drumstick - 1
  • Dal (soaked) - ¼ Cup
  • Onion – 1 Small
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Ginger – ¼ Inch Crushed
  • Garlic – 5 Pods Crushed
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – ¾ Tablespoon
  • Tomato – 1 Medium Size
  • Tamarind – Gooseberry size soaked in 3/4 Cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • Grated Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Water as required 
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Fenugreek – ¼ teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves as needed

Malabar Style Chemmeen Parippu Curry

Preparation:-

  • Take a cooker and cook soaked dal
  • Heat oil in a mud pot and sauté chopped onion by adding little salt
  • Add green chilli, ginger garlic and sauté well
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and continue sautéing 
  • Add tomato and curry leaves and sauté
  • Add drumstick and cleaned prawns, ¾ Cup tamarind water and cook well by closing the pot
  •  Smash cooked dal and add it in the curry and mix it well
  • Take a mixer grinder, add coconut, a pinch of turmeric powder, cumin seeds and grind it well
  • Transfer the ground coconut into the curry, add required water for the curry and mix it well
  • Heat oil in a pan add splutter mustard seeds, add fenugreek, curry leaves into it and then transfer it into curry
  • Tasty Chemmeen parippu curry is ready to serve

  • Take a cooker add chicken, salt to taste, ¼ teaspoon pepper powder and cook the chicken
  • Cut onion, ginger
  • Shred the cooked chicken
  • Take a bowl and add shredded chicken, onion, ginger, curry leaves, salt to taste, gram flour, Turmeric Powder, Chilli powder, cumin seeds (If required add water ) and mix it well
  • Add gram flour little by little and water as required to get the required consistency to make vada shape
  • Shape the mixture to make chicken vada
  • Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the vada both sides
  • Tasty chicken vada is ready to serve.

Chena Kaya Erisseri

Ingredients:-

  • Plantain - 1
  • Elephant Yam – A small portion
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Tsp
  • Chilli Powder- 1 ½ Tsp
  • Grated Coconut – 1 Cup
  • Green Chilli - 1
  • Cumin Seeds – ¾ Tsp
  • Mustard Seeds
  • Dry red chilli -2
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt

 Koottucurry Style Erisseri

 Preparation:-

  • Add Elephant Yam, Plantain, salt, Turmeric powder, chilli powder and water into a cooker and cook well
  • Grind ½ Cup coconut, green chilli and cumin seeds by adding required water
  • Add ground coconut into cooked vegetables. Add curry leaves and boil
  • Add coconut oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds. Add remaining coconut, Curry leaves, dry red chilli and sauté well
  • Add fried coconut into the curry
  • Tasty Chena Pachakaya Erisseri is ready to serve

Special Mushroom Rice | Mushroom Pulav



Ingredients:-
  • Cooked rice with salt- 9 cup
  • Mushroom – 250 Gram
  • Onion – 1 Big
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Garlic – 5 pods
  • Ginger – ¼ Inch
  • Green Chilli – 3 sliced
  • Oil as needed
  • Butter as needed
  • Salt to taste


Preparation:-
  • Heat oil and butter in a pan and add garlic, ginger, green chilli and sauté well.
  • Add sliced onion, salt to taste and continue sautéing
  • Add sliced mushroom into the pan and sauté well
  • Add turmeric powder and close the pan and cook for 2 to 2 ½ minute
  • Transfer cooked rice into the pan and mix it well
  • Add ½ Teaspoon garam masala and mix it well
  • Tasty Mushroom pulav is ready to serve
