Chembu Parippu Curry | Kerala Special Parippu Chembu Curry | Dal Taro Root Curry


Ingredients:-

  • Chembu/Taro Root- A small
  • Dal – ¼ Cup
  • Grated Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Green chilli -2
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Chilli Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds
  • Coconut Oil
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:-

  • Take a cooker and cook Dal, Chembu with salt, turmeric, green chilli and read chilli powder by adding required water
  • Take a mixer jar and grind grated coconut
  • Add coconut paste into the chembu curry
  • Splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves
  • Transfer spluttered mustards into the curry
  • Tasty Chembu Parippu Curry is ready to server with hot rice

  • Grated coconut – 1 Cup
  • Ginger – ¼ Inch
  • Green Chilli – 1
  • Curd – ¼ Cup
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard Seeds
  • Oil as needed
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:-

  • Take a mixer jar and grind grated Coconut, green chilli, ginger and curd
  • Add required amount of water and mix it well
  • Splutter mustard seeds and add curry leaves
  • Transfer the spluttered mustard seeds into the chutney
  • Tasty ginger chutney / Inchi Chammanthi is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Broken Wheat – ½ Cup
  • Jaggery – 200 to 225 Gram
  • Milk – 500 ML
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Cashew nuts as required
  • Raisins as Required
  • Ghee – 1 to 2 Tablespoon
  • Salt - A Pinch

Preparation:-

  • Cook broken wheat in a pressure cooker
  • Add melted Jaggery and boil 
  • Add milk and boil
  • Add cardamom powder and boil it
  • Fry cashew nuts and raisins
  • Add it into the payasam
  • Tasty Broken Wheat Pradhaman / Nurukku Gothambu Payasam is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Wheat flour- 1 Cup
  • Sugar – ¼ Cup
  • Water – ¼ Cup
  • Ghee- 2 Tablespoon
  • Salt – A Pich
  • Oil as needed

Preparation:-

  • In a pan add sugar and water and boil till sugar gets dissolved
  • Add salt into wheat flour
  • Add sugar syrup and knead it well
  • Add ghee and knead again
  • Flatten the dough using a rolling pin
  • Cut the flattened dough into desired shape
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry each piece both sides
  • Tasty Shakarpali or wheat flour snack is ready to serve

Muringayila or drumstick leaves are one of the healthy leaves you should eat daily to boost your immune system. Drumstick leaves have got so many health benefits. Muringayila has calcium, protein, iron, and amino acids, which help your body heal and build muscle. Here I am showing a stir Fry prepared using drumstick leaves. It may he slight bitter taste but considering the health benefits of this leaves you must include this thoran / Stir fry in your diet very frequently.  

Murigayila Thoran | Drumstick Leaves Stir Fry | Healthy Thoran Recipe

Ingredients:-

  • Drum stick leaves- 2 Cups
  • Grated Coconut- 2 Table Spoon
  • Green Chilli- 1
  • Garlic -4
  • Turmeric -1/4 Tsp
  • Chilli Powder – 1/4 Tsp
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required


Preparation:-

  • Cut drum stick leaves into small pieces
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coconut, green chilli and garlic and mix well
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds
  • Add drumstick leaves into it and mix and cover
  • Close the vessel and cook well
  • Once it cook sauté for some time and switch off the stove
  • Tasty Muringayila Thoran / Drumstick Leaves Stir Fry is ready to serve

  • Green gram (Soaked) – ¼ Cup

Preparation:-

  • Cook Green gram with green chilli and salt
  • Cook snake guard with green chilli and salt
  • Mix cooked green gram and snake guard
  • Add coconut milk, curry leaves and boil
  • Add coconut oil and switch off the stove

Vellarikka Sambar | Madras Cucumber Sambar | Special Sambar For Dosa and Idly


Ingredients:-

  • Cucumber – Half portion of a cucumber
  • Dal – ½ Cup soaked
  • Tomato – 1
  • Green Chilli -2
  • Shallot -15
  • Garlic -8
  • Turmeric - 1 Tea Spoon
  • Chilli powder – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Coriander powder – 2 Table Spoon
  • Tamarind Water– A small portion
  • Jaggery – Small piece
  • Asafoetida- A small piece
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Dry red chilli
  • Salt
**For frying:-**
  • Grated Coconut – ½ a Cup
  • Shallot – 10
  • Garlic – 10
  • Toor Dal – 1 Teaspoon
  • Urad dal – 1 Teaspoon
  • Pepper corns – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Fenugreek – ½ Tea Spoon

Preparation:-

  • Take a pan and fry turmeric powder and chilli powder
  • Add dal, Cucumber, Tomato, green chilli, shallot, garlic and water
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder and cook for 2 whistle
  • Add coconut oil into a pan and add grated coconut, shallot, garlic, asafoetida, curry leaves and fry
  • Add dal, urad dal, pepper corns, fenugreek and fry till it became brown in colour
  • Add cumin seeds and fry for some more time
  • Grind it into paste
  • Add tamarind pulp into cooked curry and boil it
  • Add coconut paste into it. Add jaggery and curry leaves
  • Sputter mustard seed. Add dry red chilli and curry leaves.
  • Transfer mustard into the sambar
  • Tasty vellarikka Sambar / Cucumber Sambar is ready to serve

Ingredients:-

  • Potato – 3
  • Onion-1
  • Tomato-1
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Shallot – 7
  • Ginger – ½ inch
  • Turmeric powder- ½ Teas Spoon
  • Chilli Powder – ½ Teas Spoon
  • Coriander Powder – 2 Teas Spoon
  • Garam Masala – a Pinch
  • Coconut – ½ Cup
  • Pepper corns- 20
  • Fennel Seeds – A pinch
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry Leaves as needed

Preparation:-

  • Take a cooker and add Potato, onion, green chilli, ginger, salt to taste, turmeric powder, chilli powder and pressure cook by adding required water
  • Add oil in pan and add coconut, curry leaves and roast it
  • Once the coconut became brown in colour add coriander powder and switch off the stove
  • Take a mixer jar and grind coconut adding water
  • Add ground coconut into cooked potato and mix it well. 
  • Add required water and allow to boil
  • Add garam masala and switch off the stove
  • Heat oil in a pan splutter mustard seeds
  • Add shallot curry leaves and sauté well. Transfer it into curry
  • Tasty Potato Masala Curry / Urulakizhangu Masala Curry is ready to serve

  • Drumstick leaves – 2 Cup
  • Toor Dal – ½ Cup
  • Green Chilli – 1
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ Tea Spoon
  • Chilli Powder – 1 Tea Spoon
  • Grated Coconut – ¾ Cup
  • Salt
  • Mustard Seeds – Tea Spoon
  • Curry Leaves

Preparation:-

  • Add dal and drumstick leaves into pressure cooker
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and green chilli into it
  • Add required amount of water and cook for 3 whistle
  • Grind coconut 
  • Once the dal and leaves cooked smash the dal
  • Add ground coconut into it .Add required amount of water and boil
  • Splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and put it into the curry
  • Tasty Muringayila Parippu Curry / Drumstick leaves Dal curry is ready to serve

Broken wheat Upma is very very delicious. Nurukku Gothambu is rich in fiber and the upma prepared using broken what is very healthy and tasty. You may eat this delicious Soochi Gothambu Upma along with Banana and Sugar or with Kadala Curry.

Broken Wheat Upma | Soochi Gothambu Uppumav | Nurukku Gothambu Uppumav


Ingredients:-

  • Broken Wheat – 1 ½ Cup
  • Onion – ½ 
  • Carrot – ½
  • Green Chilli – 1
  • Ginger – ½ inch
  • Curry Leaves as required 
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 Teaspoon
  • Urad Dal – 1 Table spoon
  • Ghee – 1 Table spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required

Preparation:- 

  • Take a pan, add oil and heat
  • Splutter mustard seeds
  • Add urad dal and sauté
  • Add onion, carrot, ginger, green chilli and curry leaves and sauté well
  • Add water and Salt to taste into it and boil
  • Add broken wheat and mix well
  • Close the lid and cook for 4 to 5 min in low flame
  • Open the lid and add ghee into it and mix it
  • Close with a lid and switch off the flame
  • Tasty Broken wheat Upma/ Nurukku Gothambu Uppumav is ready to serve
