How to prepare Rava Vellayappam | Rava/Semolina Appam | Rava Palappam
Vellayappam/appam is one of the favorite breakfast in Kerala. If you visit any restaurants in Kerala you will find Vellayappam/appam as one of the breakfast item. Every home in a week on rotation vellayappam/appam is prepared as one day’s breakfast. This soft vellayappam/appam can be eaten with verities of curries like Kadala, Cherupayar, stew etc but famous curry to be used along with vellayappam is egg curry / mutta curry. Vellayappam can be prepared using rice, ragi, wheat etc. Here I am showing how to prepare vellayappam/appam using Rava or Semolina. Please watch the video and let us know your feedback as comment.
Rava Vellayappam | Rava/Semolina Appam | Rava Palappam
Ingredients:-
- Soaked Rava/Semolina – 1 ½ Cup
- Grated Coconut – ½ Cup
- Yeast – ½ Teaspoon
- Sugar – 1 tablespoon
- Water – 1 Cup
- Salt to taste
Preparation:-
- Take a mixer jar and add soaked rava/Semolina, grated coconut, yeast, sugar, water and grind it well
- Transfer the ground batter into a vessel and add salt on top of it. Keep it aside for 6 to 8 hours
- After 8 hours take out the batter and stir it well
- Heat a pan suitable to make appam (Appam Chatti) and pour a spoon full batter and spread it over. Close the vessel using lid for 2 to 3 min.
- After 2 to 3 min take out the appam
- Tasty Rava / Semolina Vellayappam is ready to serve
